Making a Meaningful Difference
The Bikalananda Kar Memorial Trust was founded in 2004 by Shri Prasanta Kumar Kar, son of Late Bikalananda Kar, with a vision to carry forward his father’s legacy of service, compassion and social responsibility.
Over the years, the Trust has undertaken a wide range of initiatives focused on health, education, environment, community welfare and human dignity.
Its activities include organising blood donation and eye check-up camps, supporting underprivileged students in pursuing higher education, and providing drinking-water facilities at schools and colleges. The Trust also promotes environmental responsibility through plantation drives and extends its compassion to animals through cow welfare programmes.
The Trust supports ashrams, old age homes and children’s homes, contributing to the care and well-being of vulnerable members of society. Through Gana Brataghara programmes, it also seeks to strengthen community life by supporting spaces for social and cultural activities.
For economically disadvantaged families, the Trust has undertaken housing support initiatives, helping people move towards safer and more dignified living conditions.
Guided by the values of its founder and the legacy of Late Bikalananda Kar, the Trust continues to work towards a society where education creates opportunity, compassion inspires action, and service makes a lasting difference.
